Wrestling fans around the world are mourning the loss of Terry Brunk… better known by his legendary ring name, Sabu… who passed away at the age of 60. WWE confirmed the sad news on Sunday, expressing deep condolences to his loved ones and loyal fanbase.
Sabu carved out his legacy in the wrestling world as one of the most fearless and intense performers of his era. Known for pushing the limits of hardcore wrestling, he built his reputation through high-risk, brutal matches that left crowds stunned and inspired.
His final in-ring appearance took place during WrestleMania weekend in Las Vegas, where he squared off against Joey Janela in a dramatic no-ropes barbed wire match under the Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) banner. Fittingly, he walked away with one last victory.
WWE honored him in a statement… “WWE is saddened to learn that Terry Brunk, known to wrestling fans as Sabu, has passed away. WWE extends its condolences to Sabu’s family, friends and fans.”
GCW, where Sabu made a memorable final impression, also shared heartfelt words… “He was an outlaw and a gamechanger. He inspired so many that stepped inside a GCW ring and he will continue to inspire for generations to come. His legacy will last forever and he will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace… and long live SABU.”
Sabu was more than just a performer… he was a revolutionary figure in pro wrestling. As the nephew of WWE Hall of Famer The Sheik (Ed Farhat), wrestling ran in his blood. Throughout his storied career, Sabu captured numerous titles across various wrestling promotions and helped redefine what it meant to be hardcore.
His death marks the end of an era, but his influence will echo in every ring where passion meets pain and where fearless performers continue to chase glory, Sabu-style.
