Tragedy struck Minnesota as Rep. Melissa Hortman, 55, and her husband, Mark, 58, were fatally shot in their Brooklyn Park home in what Gov. Tim Walz called a “political assassination.”
Just miles away, Sen. John Hoffman, 60, and his wife, Yvette, were also shot in their Champlin residence. Hoffman remains in serious condition after surgery; his wife’s status is unclear.
Authorities have named 57-year-old Vance Luther Boelter as the suspect, last seen on surveillance Saturday morning. He was reportedly dressed to mimic law enforcement and may have changed clothes after the attack. A manhunt is ongoing.
Flags across Minnesota are flying at half-staff as the state mourns and demands justice.
