Pras, one of the founding members of The Fugees, is channeling his frustrations into music following the cancellation of the group’s much-anticipated anniversary tour. With plenty of free time on his hands, Pras has dropped a new track that’s bound to stir up controversy—especially among fans of the iconic hip-hop trio.
The track, titled “Bar Mitzfa,” blends rock and rap, offering a raw and unfiltered glimpse into Pras’ mindset. In the song, he bluntly raps, “Don’t blame me, blame her, she made the mess … not another f***ing penny, is what I told Wyclef Jean.” This line seems to point fingers at fellow Fugees member Lauryn Hill, whose notorious tardiness and frequent no-shows have long been a source of frustration for both fans and her bandmates.
Sources close to Pras reveal that the track was recorded just last week, right as the reality of the canceled tour began to set in. Low ticket sales ultimately led to the plug being pulled on the reunion, but Pras has made it clear that he believes Lauryn’s unreliable behavior was the real catalyst.
It’s not the first time Pras has expressed his agreement with fans who were fed up with Lauryn Hill’s lateness. The frustration of having schedules—and even celebrity guests—disrupted by her unpredictability has clearly taken its toll. “Bar Mitzfa” seems to amplify these feelings, with Pras emphasizing that he’s more concerned about maintaining the group’s legacy and connection with fans than the lost revenue.
As a founding member of the Diamond-certified group, Pras is clearly protective of The Fugees’ reputation. With “Bar Mitzfa,” he’s making it known that he won’t let anything—or anyone—tarnish it.
