In a recent incident in New York City’s Union Square Park, popular Twitch streamer Kai Cenat is facing legal trouble as thousands of his fans gathered, leading to a riot. The NYPD made a total of 65 arrests during the event, with 30 of them being juveniles.
The situation unfolded after Kai Cenat announced a special giveaway event to his millions of followers, where attendees anticipated receiving free computers, Play Stations, gaming chairs, gift cards, and other items. However, the event lacked the necessary permit.
Due to the sudden surge in attendees, the crowd grew rapidly from several hundred teenagers to several thousand teenagers within minutes, according to New York Police Department Chief Jeffrey Maddrey. As a result, Kai Cenat has been charged with at least two counts of inciting a riot and unlawful assembly.
For safety reasons, police officials removed Cenat from the area before taking him into custody. During the riot, there were reports of violence against NYPD officers and civilians. Chief Maddrey mentioned instances of individuals carrying dangerous tools from a nearby construction site, as well as throwing fireworks at both police officers and fellow attendees.
Kai Cenat is a highly influential online personality with an extensive following on various platforms. He boasts 6.5 million followers on Twitch, 7.1 million on TikTok, 5.5 million on Instagram, 1.5 million on Twitter/X, and a combined subscriber count of over 7 million on YouTube.
While this event has garnered significant attention, legal proceedings will now determine the outcome for Kai Cenat as he faces the charges brought against him in connection with the Union Square Park gathering.
