Authorities claim he overstayed his visa, but his lawyer says he was in legal status, awaiting a green card after marrying a U.S. citizen.
Witnesses say armed agents swarmed the parking lot, breaking his car window as children played nearby. Parents called the scene traumatic and unnecessary.
The school called the arrest “deeply upsetting,” promising to support affected families and review safety protocols. Khanbabazadeh is now being held at a detention center in Washington.
