NYPD Cops Charged With Stealing $3K Worth Of Jay-Z’s Ace Of Spades Champagne At Music Festival
Three NYPD cops have been charged with stealing nearly $3,000 worth of Jay-Z’s Ace of Spades champagne at a music festival.
According to Billboard, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg filed felony charges against Jonathan Gonzalez, Wojciech Czech, and Warren Golden for the alleged theft at Electric Zoo in September 2022.
Gonzalez and Czech face grand larceny and criminal possession charges, while Gonzalez and Golden were charged with official misconduct.
During the festival, the detectives, who were responsible for narcotics, witnessed three VIP attendees ordering Ace of Spades champagne. Gonzalez allegedly took two bottles valued at $2,900, and placed them in a backpack provided by Czech, while Golden reportedly did not intervene.
The theft was reported by two attendees who witnessed the incident when the detectives left the VIP area. The NYPD has arrested two officers and suspended them pending further investigation.
In a statement, District Attorney Bragg emphasized the importance of law enforcement acting with integrity, stating, “Public confidence in the criminal justice system depends on members of law enforcement acting with the utmost integrity while on duty and following the same rules that apply to everyone else.”
