A New Jersey police chief is at the center of a disturbing scandal, facing allegations that paint a picture of a chaotic and hostile work environment. Shocking claims suggest the chief engaged in crude acts, including defecating on station floors, spiking officers’ coffee with Viagra and Adderall, and even engaging in inappropriate and abusive conduct toward subordinates.
According to legal complaints filed by five North Bergen Police Department officers, Chief Robert Farley is accused of a series of disturbing actions that go far beyond misconduct. The documents, obtained, allege Farley exposed himself to staff while making inappropriate jokes, engaged in racial discrimination, and even stuck a hypodermic needle into an officer’s private area.
One particularly outrageous allegation states: “Chief Farley has, on several occasions, pulled his pants down and defecated on the floor in front of his entire office staff.” In another instance, he allegedly relieved himself in a trash can, leaving it uncleaned for days.
The complaints also claim Farley frequently flew into violent rages, smashing TVs, breaking picture frames, and hurling eggs inside the office. Additionally, he’s accused of bizarrely shaving body hair over work desks, adding to the hostile and unhygienic work environment.
Farley, who has served with the department for 26 years and was appointed chief in February 2024, now faces a potential lawsuit over allegations of discrimination, retaliation, and civil rights violations. So far, the Township of North Bergen has not issued a statement on the matter.
