Monica, the Legendary R&B artist, has entered the world of podcasting with her latest endeavor, the MoTalk Radio show. With this exciting announcement, Monica’s Grammy-winning vocals will now grace the global live-streaming radio station Apple Music Hits, as her limited radio series focuses on the beloved R&B hits from the 1990s and 2000s. The show’s curated mixes will be skillfully crafted by DJ Baby Yu.
MoTalk Radio serves as a platform for artists, entertainers, musicians, politicians, athletes, and others to authentically share their stories. Monica highlights the significance of reclaiming our narratives, as she believes that too often, our truths are diluted and distorted for the benefit of others. “MoTalk brings that to an end, and gives creatives back their stories. Discussing hard topics, creating change, and highlighting the greats is key for me,” asserts Monica. She further emphasizes that engaging in thought-provoking discussions, driving positive change, and shining a light on the greats are of paramount importance to her.
Monica joins the ranks of her fellow Atlanta-born recording artist, Latto, in becoming a recent addition to Apple Music’s podcast roster. Latto’s 777 Radio made its debut in March, featuring an insightful interview with the talented singer/actress Chlöe Bailey (known for her roles in Grown-ish and Swarm). Monica’s MoTalk Radio’s inaugural episode features none other than 4-time NBA champion and Basketball Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal. In episode two, country/R&B performer Mickey Guyton graces the show to discuss her critically acclaimed album, Remember Her Name.
Prior to assuming her role as the host of MoTalk Radio, Monica firmly established herself as one of the leading voices of the 1990s and 2000s. With three No. 1 singles in her discography, including the iconic duet “The Boy Is Mine” with Brandy, Monica has left an indelible mark on the music industry. However, Monica reveals an intriguing revelation during her MoTalk Radio appearance: “People believed there was a lot of history prior but there was not. A lot of the narrative that you saw was formulated based on the song and then it spewed into our real lives, but it never existed prior to.”
