In a recent interview on the All The Smoke podcast, producer Mike WiLL Made-It dropped some surprising insights about JAY-Z’s iconic track, “Beach is Better.”
While the song has gained status as a modern Hip Hop classic, Mike WiLL Made-It disclosed that it was initially intended for Big Sean.
During the podcast on January 20, Mike WiLL Made-It shared the genesis of the track, revealing that Big Sean initially had a concept for a song called “10 to 10.” Several beats were crafted around this idea, and “Beach is Better” emerged as one of them.
According to the producer, he received multiple options from his associate Mars, and upon listening to the beat, he knew it had immense potential.
Adding a unique touch, Mike WiLL Made-It incorporated an ad-lib from Miley Cyrus into the mix before presenting it to Big Sean. Despite the anticipation, the collaboration didn’t materialize as expected.
Expressing his initial enthusiasm, Mike WiLL Made-It said, “We put the extra juice on this, this gotta be the one.” However, he never received feedback from Big Sean.
Interestingly, the following week, Mike WiLL Made-It found himself in a studio session with JAY-Z, leading to the unexpected transformation of “Beach is Better.”
This revelation sheds light on the dynamic and unpredictable nature of music creation, showcasing how a track intended for one artist can find its way to another, ultimately becoming a timeless piece within the industry.
