A 44-year-old Michigan man is facing serious charges after authorities say he discharged a firearm multiple times roughly one foot from a middle school in Romulus while his child was inside the building.
During his court appearance, Shawntez Marshaun Gregory launched a profane and racially charged tirade directed at the judge, accusing the court of bias and repeatedly insulting her.
He also told the judge to “get a real job,” escalating tensions in the courtroom.
Prosecutors allege the gunfire occurred just outside Romulus Middle School. Officials confirmed no one was injured in the incident.
Gregory additionally faced arraignment on a separate matter related to failing to appear in court, for which an active warrant had been issued. In that case, the judge reset bond at $10,000, requiring 10% to be posted.
The investigation into the school-related incident remains ongoing.
