Memphis Bleek recently shared a gripping tale about a wild altercation involving JAY-Z, shedding light on the rapper’s gritty past. In an exclusive interview with DJ Superstar Jay, the former Roc-A-Fella artist recounted a tumultuous incident from the late 1990s when JAY-Z and his crew found themselves entangled in a chaotic brawl at a Miami club.
According to Bleek, the night took a turbulent turn, leading the club management to demand a hefty sum of $50,000 for JAY-Z and his entourage to exit the premises. The rapper explained, “We turned this club in Miami upside down, my n***a. They made us pay 50 grand to leave. Hov, he had to pay 50 racks. They extorted the f*** out of us.”
The altercation escalated to the point where physical confrontations ensued, leaving a trail of cracked heads, foreheads, and faces. The club authorities took extreme measures, locking the doors and forcing the group to pay a substantial fee to regain their freedom. Bleek emphasized that this incident occurred during the “Streets Is Watching” era, portraying a raw and unrestrained side of JAY-Z.
Despite JAY-Z’s current laidback demeanor and billionaire status, Bleek passionately attested to his friend’s ability to hold his own in a physical altercation. He warned against underestimating JAY-Z’s prowess, stating, “See, they see billionaire dread Hov, they think my man ain’t got them hands. Hov will put knuckles on you! He’ll put them hard bottoms on your ass too.”
Bleek reminisced about JAY-Z’s penchant for troublemaking in the past, particularly fueled by copious amounts of Cristal. He urged fans to acknowledge the transformation from the intense persona of the past to the present-day cool and laidback version alongside Beyoncé.
