In a major cross-border operation, Mexican authorities have seized over 110,000 fentanyl pills and arrested three suspects… including an American citizen and a dual U.S.-Mexico national… in a coordinated effort to crack down on drug trafficking near the U.S. border.
The high-impact takedown was the result of joint intelligence gathered by agencies from both the United States and Mexico. According to Mexico’s Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), federal agents, in coordination with the Attorney General’s Office and support from the FBI, tracked down the suspects during ground patrols in Ciudad Juárez.
The suspects… two men and one woman… were spotted in a vehicle and attempted to flee when they noticed the approaching security forces. After a short pursuit, authorities intercepted the car and discovered the massive cache of fentanyl stashed in 10 transparent plastic packages.
Photos shared by SSPC official Omar Hamid García Harfuch revealed evidence recovered at the scene, including four IDs, three mobile phones, and the seized narcotics. All three individuals were detained and transferred to the custody of Mexico’s Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities confirmed that the female suspect is an American national, while one of the male suspects holds dual U.S.-Mexican citizenship and is reportedly wanted in the U.S. on drug trafficking charges. Their names have not yet been released.
This bust marks another milestone in the escalating battle against fentanyl trafficking across North America, with both nations pledging tighter enforcement and deeper intelligence sharing.
