New York City was rocked by a deadly shooting on Monday morning after a gunman opened fire near 345 Park Avenue, leaving at least five people dead, including an off-duty police officer, according to law enforcement sources.
The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Shane Tamura of Las Vegas, reportedly stormed the high-rise building in Midtown wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying an assault-style rifle. Authorities say he later turned the weapon on himself.
Mass panic unfolded as videos surfaced across social media, capturing terrified civilians fleeing the scene while NYPD officers sprinted toward the danger. The shooter allegedly barricaded himself on the 32nd floor of the iconic office tower, which houses major tenants like Blackstone, J.P. Morgan, KPMG, and the NFL.

The NYPD responded swiftly after reports of gunfire rang out just before noon. Officers arrived to find multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Graphic video footage from the scene showed emergency responders administering CPR to at least one individual on the street below.
The motive behind the shooting remains unknown, and authorities continue to investigate whether the attack began inside or outside the building.
