Mandy Moore isn’t holding back when it comes to Amazon’s questionable delivery practices. The This Is Us actress took to Instagram on Tuesday to call out the retail giant after a package was left at her in-laws’ home… despite the fact that the house had been destroyed by the raging Los Angeles wildfires.
In a now-viral Instagram Story, Moore, 40, shared a shocking photo of the charred remains of the property, with an untouched Amazon box sitting among the ruins.
“Can we not have better discretion than to leave a package at a residence that no longer exists?” she wrote, expressing disbelief over the situation. “This is my mother and father-in-law’s home. Smh.”
Her post quickly caught Amazon’s attention, prompting a response from the company. In a statement obtained by Page Six, Amazon spokesperson Steve Kelly confirmed they had reached out to Moore to apologize and gather more details.
“For weeks, we’ve advised those delivering on our behalf in Southern California to use discretion in areas affected by wildfires… especially when a home has been visibly damaged,” Kelly stated. “That clearly didn’t happen here, and we’re investigating what went wrong.”
The incident has sparked a larger conversation about delivery services exercising better judgment in disaster-stricken areas. As Moore’s post gains traction, many are calling on companies like Amazon to ensure their drivers are more mindful in the wake of natural disasters.
