Ma$e recently unveiled a jaw-dropping story involving an attempted robbery orchestrated by his fellow Harlem rapper, Big L. During the June 26 episode of It Is What It Is, the former Bad Boy artist shared details of their escalating feud, which took a dangerous turn.
The conflict began when Big L started using some of Ma$e’s distinctive lyrical compounds—rhyming multiple syllables simultaneously. Ma$e confronted him, leading to a heated conversation that spiraled out of control.
“Me and L, we get into it,” Ma$e recalled. “He started using a few of my lyrics… so I checked him and I’m like, ‘Yo, L!'”
As tensions rose, Ma$e found himself in The Tunnel, a legendary New York City nightclub, where Fat Joe approached him.
“Joe comes up to me and I’m looking like,” Ma$e described. “And then Joe was like, ‘Man, I ain’t doing nothing to that n***a! That’s Ma$e. That’s something y’all got going on.'”
Sometime later, while walking through Harlem with childhood friend and former NBA star God Shammgod, Ma$e experienced the climax of this conflict. Sporting his first Rolex, the two were suddenly confronted by an armed assailant.
“A Spanish guy just ran out of nowhere like, ‘Yo, give it up, give it up! I’ma kill both of y’all,'” Ma$e recounted. “He got the gun on Shammgod. We played basketball, so we communicate with our eyes like, ‘N***a, I’m about to run.'”
Despite his initial reluctance to part with his prized Rolex, Ma$e eventually tossed the watch near the robber, allowing him and Shammgod to escape. Later, Ma$e learned the truth about the incident from his contacts.
“When the dude gets locked up, people start calling me: ‘Yo, the guy in here that just took your watch.’ And they got crazy on the dude in jail. They beat him so bad he told us who did it,” Ma$e explained.
To his shock, the culprit behind the setup was none other than Big L. “He was like, ‘Yo, Big L did that.’ I was like, ‘Big L? Awwh. It’s over for this n***a.’”
