LL Cool J, a true icon in the world of Hip Hop, recently opened up about what he believes is missing from the genre in 2024. In a candid conversation with The New York Times, the rap legend shared his insights as he gears up for the release of his much-anticipated album, The FORCE.
When asked about the current state of Hip Hop, LL Cool J didn’t hold back. He pointed to a crucial element that he feels is lacking in today’s music scene: “Songwriting.”
“There’s nothing wrong with rapping about money and success, and there’s nothing wrong with rapping about pure sex — I love them both,” he explained. “But for a project to truly resonate, there has to be more depth to it, more substance beyond just those themes.”
As fans eagerly await his new album, LL’s comments serve as a reminder that while the beats and rhymes are important, it’s the storytelling and songwriting that leave a lasting impact.
