Lil Yachty is looking back with regret on his decision to take Cardi B’s side during her highly publicized beef with Nicki Minaj.
During a recent interview on Club Shay Shay with Shannon Sharpe, the Atlanta rapper reflected on how his involvement in the 2018 feud between the two rap queens negatively affected his standing with Nicki.
“I hate that I even answered that question,” Yachty admitted, acknowledging that he inserted himself into a conflict that had nothing to do with him. While he made it clear that he respects both artists, he regrets how his support for Cardi was interpreted as a slight toward Nicki.
Years later, it seems the fallout still lingers… Nicki Minaj has yet to unblock him on social media. Despite previously downplaying the issue in a 2021 TMZ interview, Yachty revealed to Sharpe that he never even asked Drake to intervene on his behalf.
The “Poland” rapper also admitted that he was nervous about facing Nicki Minaj after everything went down.
“I was so scared to talk to her, bro,” he confessed. “She just glows like a lava lamp. She’s so beautiful, and she just walks around glowing.”
With years behind him, Yachty seems to have learned a valuable lesson about staying out of industry feuds… but it looks like he’s still waiting for a second chance with the Queen of Rap.
