Lil Wayne appears to have taken a stance in the ongoing feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, sparking speculation and debate among fans.
During his recent performance in Las Vegas, the Young Money legend performed his 2011 hit with Drake, “The Motto,” and made a notable gesture by holding up his OVO chain. Adding to the intrigue, Wayne seemingly incorporated lines from Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us” into his performance.
This left the crowd buzzing with mixed interpretations—some saw it as a show of support for Drake, while others believed it hinted at an endorsement of Kendrick.
However, a closer look at the footage reveals Lil Wayne altering Kendrick’s lyrics, saying, “They don’t like us,” which added another layer to the speculation.
Kendrick Lamar’s original song mentions a controversial incident involving Drake and Lil Wayne’s ex-girlfriend, which Wayne himself had previously disclosed in his 2016 memoir, Gone ‘Til November: A Journal of Rikers Island.
In his memoir, Wayne opened up about the emotional turmoil he experienced upon learning that Drake had been intimate with his then-girlfriend while he was incarcerated. He reflected on the painful discovery and how it affected him deeply, despite it happening before their relationship began.
“I woke up still feeling f**ked up about the f**ked-up day that I had. Hell is what it was! I’m used to arguing with my girl daily, but finding out that she f**ked Drake was the absolute worst thing I could’ve found out,” he wrote.
“As a man, honestly, that sh*t hurt, and not because it was Drake. It could’ve been any man, and it would’ve hurt the same. She said it happened way before we got together, but she just never told me. When Drizzy came to see me, he was like, ‘Yeah, it’s true … don’t f**k with her like that ’cause I did f**k her.’ Damn!”
Wayne added that the revelation was a difficult pill to swallow, particularly while he was locked up. “This is the type of sh*t that a man never wants to find out while he’s locked up. Or maybe so, ’cause only God knows what I would’ve done if I wasn’t locked up right now.”
“As soon as I found out, I told them to just lock me in, and I’ve basically just been by myself in my cell for the last couple of days… As a man, I’ll admit it: That sh*t really f**ked me up.”
Lil Wayne’s recent performance and the resurfacing of these old wounds have reignited discussions about his loyalty and where he stands in the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar saga.
Fans continue to dissect his actions and words, trying to decipher the true message behind his on-stage statement.
