During the conversation on UNDISPUTED on November 10, Lil Wayne expressed his candid opinion about the Lakers’ future championship prospects. Wayne believes that, in order to build a championship-caliber team, the Lakers should consider parting ways with Anthony Davis.
In response to host Skip Bayless’s inquiry about the reasoning behind this suggestion, Lil Wayne straightforwardly stated, “Because he’s AD. Plain and simple.” While Wayne refrained from criticizing Davis for being “soft” or dwelling on his injury history, he emphasized that the Lakers might not see long-term success with him on the roster.
Wayne elaborated, pointing out Davis’s consistent traits and how they might not align with the Lakers’ championship ambitions. He acknowledged Davis’s performance in New Orleans and the bubble championship but maintained that a strategic move to trade him for valuable players, not necessarily superstars, could be the key to the Lakers’ success.
