Lil Wayne recently addressed his unexpected absence from the Cash Money reunion during the Essence Festival, leaving many fans puzzled and disappointed.
Despite performing at the New Orleans event, the rap icon was notably absent from the Cash Money 30-year anniversary celebration. The star-studded lineup included Birdman, Mannie Fresh, and fellow Hot Boys members Juvenile and B.G.
In an Instagram video posted on Sunday (July 7), the “A Milli” rapper spoke about the situation, acknowledging the fans’ disappointment.
“Funny story: I got hit up by somebody, somebody text me. I guess they had been at the show too long or something and they said, ‘You wrong. You know you should have come out. You wrong, Wayne. You had all these fans out here. You didn’t come. You know you should have,'” Wayne explained.
With a hint of humor, Wayne shared his response to the text, saying: “I’m like, ‘What you talking about? The afterparty or something?'”
While Wayne didn’t directly address Birdman or his former Cash Money colleagues, he did express his appreciation for “all the artists that performed” at the festival.
