Lil Baby’s legal team is pushing back against his recent arrest in Las Vegas, arguing that the rapper (real name: Dominique Jones) had a valid Georgia Carrying a Concealed Weapon (CCW) Permit at the time of the incident.
His attorneys, Drew Findling and David Chesnoff, stated to TMZ, “To be clear, Dominique Jones has a valid Georgia Carrying a Concealed Weapon (CCW) Permit. On his behalf, we are actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding his arrest in Las Vegas.”
According to law enforcement sources, the trouble began when Lil Baby was spotted at the Encore nightclub in Vegas, where he was allegedly caught on video being handed a firearm. Police arrived on the scene, conducted an investigation, and subsequently arrested the rapper for carrying a concealed firearm without a permit.
The twist in this case lies in the differing gun laws between states. While Lil Baby holds a valid CCW permit in Georgia, Nevada does not recognize permits issued by other states, including Georgia.
As a result, Lil Baby was taken into custody Monday night, facing a felony charge for possessing a concealed weapon without a valid Nevada permit. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center with a bail set at $5,000.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has yet to release a detailed account of the events leading to Lil Baby’s arrest, but more information is expected as the investigation unfolds.
This isn’t Lil Baby’s first encounter with the law, but his legal team is determined to clarify the circumstances of his latest run-in, especially given the complexities of navigating differing state regulations on concealed carry permits.
