Darrell Huff’s first edition copy, ‘How to Lie with Statistics,’ was checked out at Newcastle’s central library in November 1958 and should have been returned to the city’s Fenham Library instead.
When the book was returned, a note in it read, “Better late than never!!” But, the Library manager David Hepworth said, “the person was probably worried about us sending them a bill in the mail.”
David told the BBC: “As much as we’re pleased to have this book back, we’re also pleased that it has sparked a bit of interest and people are talking about libraries and reading.”
