Kodak Black is facing a roadblock in his music journey as he strives to clear a sample for his latest track. Taking to social media, Kodak expressed his admiration for Plies and his desire to secure the necessary permissions.
During an Instagram Live session on Thursday (March 28), Kodak Black, affectionately known as Yak, reached out to Plies and his team for assistance in obtaining clearance for a sample used in his upcoming song.
In his heartfelt plea, Kodak Black emphasized the significance of the sample, stating, “I need somebody from Plies camp or Plies himself or whatever to tighten down… ‘Cause I got a song that I’m tryna drop and I need the clearance from Plies. I had redid one of his songs and I need the stuff cleared. I grew up off that boy. I mess with Plies tough. If you hear this or see this, let that boy know.”
It’s important to acknowledge the history between Kodak Black and Plies, who have previously collaborated on multiple tracks, including a joint mixtape titled F.E.M.A. (Finesse. Elevate. Motivate. Achieve.) released in 2017.
Moreover, just last month, Kodak Black was featured on a song that sampled Plies’ work, alongside Major Nine. However, as a guest feature on the track, the responsibility for clearing the sample did not fall on Kodak Black.
