Kodak Black has decided to retire his hit track “Super Gremlin” from his performances as he embarks on a journey towards sobriety.
The Florida rapper, in a candid Instagram Live session, revealed his complex feelings towards the platinum-certified song and his new lifestyle.
“I’m done with ‘Super Gremlin.’ I can’t stand that song anymore,” Kodak shared. “I’m mostly sober now… I used to need drugs like Batman needed the night. Now, I can go a few days without them.”
He continued, “It was like I was afraid of being sober. Now, I can handle it. I can go two days without anything, and that should motivate others. If I can do it, anyone can.” Kodak’s discontent with “Super Gremlin” stems from a notorious lyric where he raps: “I knew the Perc was fake, but I still ate it/ ‘Cause I’m a gremlin.”
At a recent concert, Kodak expressed regret over this line, acknowledging the dangerous reality it portrayed. He explained, “It’s sad because that line sticks in people’s minds so quickly. I didn’t want to say it, but I knew it would hit hard. I shouldn’t have played around like that.”
Reflecting on his past drug use, he admitted, “When I was on Percs, I was messed up. I swear, I was taking about 100 Percs a day, averaging around 40. If I had been taking fake ones, I wouldn’t be here today.”
Kodak Black’s commitment to sobriety marks a significant shift in his life and career, inspiring fans and followers to consider their own choices and the impact of their actions.
