In a recent viral incident, Travis Scott has come under fire for allegedly disrespecting a young fan who asked for a photo with the rapper while in France. The encounter, which took place on Wednesday (August 7), quickly spread across social media, drawing the ire of legendary DJ Kid Capri.
The video shows the Houston rapper being approached by a young boy, who eagerly holds out his phone and asks, “Travis, can I get a picture?” Scott, visibly annoyed by the request and the fan’s proximity, abruptly pushes the boy’s arm away, saying, “Don’t touch me.”
Apologizing immediately, the fan steps back with his phone still raised. Scott then offers a half-hearted thumbs up to the camera before walking away. The interaction left a sour taste for many, especially DJ Kid Capri, who didn’t hold back in his critique of the “Sicko Mode” artist.
“Ayo, Travis Scott, when did we start being disrespectful to kids, bruh?” Capri questioned in a video response posted online. He expressed his disappointment over Scott’s behavior, reminding the rapper of a time when he would’ve been grateful for fan attention.
“At one time, you would’ve wanted somebody to ask you for an autograph or a picture,” Capri pointed out.
The DJ, who has built his career on fan engagement, urged Scott to adopt a more humble attitude, particularly given the tragic events of the 2021 Astroworld Festival, where a crowd surge claimed the lives of 10 attendees.
“Celebs get where they get and then they forget,” Capri continued. “Dawg, like 10 people died at one of your concerts. I would try to be as humble as possible when it comes to the fans, bruh. They lift you up.”
Capri didn’t mince words, calling Scott’s treatment of the young fan “super, super corny” and contrasting it with his own approach to fame.
“I’m not at your level, but I’m at Kid Capri level and I respect the fans,” he added. “When it comes to little kids, they look at you as a superhero, bruh.”
The incident has sparked widespread debate online, with many fans and critics weighing in on the responsibilities of celebrities towards their supporters, especially the younger ones.
