Kendrick Lamar has taken a firm stand regarding Drake’s recent acquisition of the iconic 2Pac crown ring, making it clear that he does not approve of Drake holding onto such a significant piece of hip-hop history.
This tension has prompted a creative solution from a jeweler who hopes to resolve the issue amicably.
Last year, Drake made headlines by purchasing the legendary crown ring once worn by 2Pac for a staggering $1 million at an auction. Kendrick Lamar, visibly disturbed by this, publicly demanded during a Los Angeles concert earlier this month that Drake relinquish the precious item.
In a turn of events on Monday (June 24), New York City jeweler Maksud Agadjani took to Facebook with a video proposing a unique solution. He offered to create an exact replica of the ring for Kendrick.
“Kendrick is telling Drake to give up 2Pac’s ring,” Agadjani said while showcasing the replica. “Well, this is 2Pac’s ring right here — a replica of the original one purchased by Drake, and Kendrick’s not happy about that.
“Hey Kendrick, if you can’t get the ring back on your own, you can always buy this one from traxnyc.com. For all the 2Pac fans, jewelry enthusiasts, fans that are ‘Not Like Us,’ and fans that are like us — whatever it might be.”
The iconic ring, crafted from gold, ruby, and diamonds, carries the inscription “Pac & Dada 1996,” a nod to 2Pac’s engagement to Kidada Jones. 2Pac famously wore this piece during his final public appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards, just days before his tragic death in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas at the age of 25.
Although Drake’s identity as the winning bidder was initially kept confidential, he later revealed himself as the buyer, now holding what is considered the most valuable hip-hop artifact ever sold at auction.
