Joe Budden has weighed in on the ongoing feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, declaring Kendrick the winner of the first round of diss tracks.
Following the release of Kendrick’s “Euphoria,” a response to Drake’s “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle,” Budden shared his thoughts during a livestream with Akademiks.
Budden, now a podcaster, expressed his opinion that Kendrick has emerged victorious in this initial exchange but expressed curiosity about Drake’s response.
In response to Akademiks suggesting Drake was leading 1-0, Budden humorously retorted, “Oh, your calculator’s broke.” Budden, along with his podcast co-hosts, burst into laughter when Akademiks claimed “Push Ups” was superior to “Euphoria,” commenting, “There’s a reason y’all thought that shit was AI.”
Budden emphasized his objectivity in media but acknowledged his own past issues with Drake, expressing a desire to see Drake challenged.
He stressed the importance of seeing how artists respond to adversity, particularly when faced with a formidable opponent like Kendrick.
Expressing his admiration for Drake, Budden encouraged him to step up and respond to Kendrick’s challenge, emphasizing the need to “finish your food” in the face of adversity.
He noted the difference between previous feuds, such as with Meek Mill, and the current situation with Kendrick, describing Kendrick as the new “Boogeyman” that Drake must face.
