In the most recent installment of The Joe Budden Podcast, broadcasted on YouTube this past Sunday (Nov. 26), Joe Budden took aim at Lupe Fiasco for choosing to rap over André 3000’s newly released instrumental album, New Blue Sun. The episode covered various topics, and the discussion turned to Lupe Fiasco coopting Dre’s latest album for his own rap endeavors.
Around the 1:33:00-mark of the episode, Joe voiced his disapproval, stating, “Hey Lupe, man. Stop. He’s rapping over them damn flutes…I cut that s**t right off.” Despite a cohost cautioning Joe about potential retaliation from Lupe, Joe nonchalantly responded with a “Whoopty doo.”
Adding a humorous twist, Joe highlighted the diverse audience, saying, “Yo, dawg, it’s women listening with vaginas. Why would he do that to that? I can’t say nothing ’cause he gon’ diss me.” Concluding his critique, Joe announced his retirement from critiquing rap, asserting, “I’m done critiquing rap. I’m gon’ come tell y’all what’s bullsh*t. That was some bullsh*t. That was clout-chasing.”
