The celebrated artist recently appeared on Maverick Carter’s Mavericks show, where he delved into his early involvement in the streets and an incident where his trust was severely tested, changing the course of his life.
Jeezy recounted, “My loyalty got me in a lot of trouble. I was going to make this play with my older cousin,” Jeezy began. “He was like, ‘These my people.’ I was like, ‘Let me bring my strap.’ He was like, ‘Nah, you good.’ But it’s big cuz — you trust him like, ‘Iight cool.'”
The turning point occurred when they met with their contact in a semi-trailer truck. Jeezy handed over the money and received a laundry bag in return. However, when he later inspected the bag at his residence, he was shocked to discover that it contained nothing but sheetrock. His hard-earned money had vanished, leaving him financially drained. He couldn’t help but feel betrayed, given the deep respect and admiration he had for his cousin.

He explained, “So along with the trust issues I had before, now I know I can’t even trust the people I respect,” he continued. “So that turned me into a whole ‘nother animal. At first, I wasn’t really thugging; I’m just hustling. Now, I’m thugging”
