In a recent interview with Say Cheese, ex-Roc-A-Fella rapper Oschino expressed his discontent with JAY-Z, accusing the hip-hop mogul of abandoning Beanie Sigel during his mid-2000s attempted murder trial.
Oschino, a former member of State Property, shared his frustration, recounting how JAY-Z refused to vouch for Beanie Sigel when it mattered most. “I attended Beanie’s court case where he was accused of shooting someone,” Oschino explained.
“JAY-Z was on the stand, and when asked if he would take responsibility for Beanie if he were released, JAY-Z said, ‘No.’ I witnessed this firsthand. This isn’t hearsay; I was there in the courtroom.”
He continued: “I couldn’t understand why he even showed up to court. If it were my friend, and all I had to do was say, ‘I’m responsible for him,’ to help him get out, I would do it without hesitation. The judge gave him an opportunity, and he said, ‘No.’”
Reflecting on the courtroom scene, Oschino added, “Nobody reacted, nobody flinched. As someone familiar with the jail system, I was shocked. It seemed like a normal thing to everyone else … Maybe I’m too street-minded, and maybe JAY-Z was trying to be more responsible, but I couldn’t help thinking, ‘These guys are different.’”
This revelation adds another layer to the complex history between JAY-Z and his former Roc-A-Fella Records associates, highlighting the stark differences in their perspectives and actions during critical moments.
