Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler is facing even more legal fallout after his 2024 DUI arrest. Days after a Tennessee judge sentenced the ex-Chicago Bears star to jail time, a lawsuit has been filed against him over the same crash.
According to court documents, Perry Lee, the driver Cutler allegedly rear-ended in October, has sued the former QB, claiming he was reckless, tailgating, and driving under the influence. The lawsuit accuses Cutler of failing to use “reasonable care” behind the wheel.
Lee says the wreck caused severe physical injuries, emotional trauma, and crushing medical expenses. His attorneys, John Morgan and Sydney Pierce, told TMZ, “Our client is a veteran who now suffers daily pain and a diminished quality of life. We are seeking justice so he can get the care he deserves.”
This civil suit comes less than a week after Cutler’s criminal sentencing, which included four days in jail, mandatory DUI classes, a $350 fine, one year of probation, and a revoked license. Cutler is expected to report to jail on September 29.
Police reports allege that Cutler, who appeared disoriented with bloodshot eyes, even offered Lee $2,000 at the scene not to call police. Officers rejected the alleged bribe and placed him under arrest.
