In a bid to address the escalating tension between NBA YoungBoy and Drake, J. Prince has taken charge and intervened, advising the fiery rapper to remove the esteemed 6 God from his “enemy list.”
NBA YoungBoy recently took aim at Drake on his latest album, Richest Opp, released just last week. In his scathing lyrics, YoungBoy called out Drake for allegedly refusing to collaborate due to his allegiance to Lil Durk, a fierce rival of YoungBoy.
On the track “Fuck the Industry Pt. 2,” YoungBoy rapped, “Talked to Drake ‘cross FaceTime, he wasn’t feelin’ me. Told me that he fuck with Durk, damn, that shit gettin’ to me. Told me that he like the shit I’m doin’, but can’t do shit with me. So when we cross our ways, fuck what you say, bitch, you my enemy.”
These harsh words from YoungBoy prompted J. Prince and Birdman to make a visit to the Baton Rouge native, who is currently under house arrest in Salt Lake City, Utah, following a gun-related arrest in Los Angeles in 2021. The purpose of their visit was to diffuse the brewing conflict.
J. Prince, the respected founder of Rap-A-Lot Records, shared a photo of their encounter on Instagram on May 17, along with a heartfelt message, urging YoungBoy to let go of his animosity towards Drake.
“As you can see, I had a great time connecting with the homies in Utah. On behalf of young Homie YB, Birdman and I engaged in a genuine face-to-face conversation,” he began in his caption. “We discussed the past, present, and future. Above all, we departed with a mutual respect and a commitment to move forward.”
Although the meeting wasn’t solely intended for a discussion with Birdman, J. Prince acknowledged the mysterious workings of fate. He emphasized, “With that being said, I must address the song where my name and Drake’s name were mentioned.”
Continuing his public statement, J. Prince expressed, “To the young Homie, as I conveyed privately, I now say publicly that Drake is like a son to me, and we stand united. Therefore, it would be wise to remove him from your list of enemies because the reality is, we have nothing but admiration for Durk and your accomplishments.”
“When I connected you with Drake via FaceTime, my intention was for both of you to progress, not regress. Every day presents us with choices and opportunities. The choices we make determine our path,” he concluded.
By addressing the ongoing feud and showcasing a sense of reconciliation, J. Prince’s intervention during the Birdman meeting aims to diffuse the tension between NBA YoungBoy and Drake, ultimately fostering a more positive and collaborative environment within the rap industry.
