The basketball season is now upon us!! NBA and college players all over the country are in full swing playing the sport they love. High schoolers will be beginning their regular-season soon, and we hope for a monumental one. For at least one reason, I know it will be historical.
For the first time ever, a high school basketball star signs a sneaker deal with Puma. By doing this, Mikey Williams, a 6-2 17-year-old combo guard out of Vertical Academy in Charlotte, NC, becomes an instant global sensation with global brand Puma.
According to 247 Sports, Williams is rated the Number 14 overall prospect for the Class of 2023 and the second best combo guard in the class, behind only DJ Wagner. He also already has scholarship offers from Kansas, LSU, Pittsburgh, and Tennessee, which are some very high profile schools.
So hopefully, one day, we’ll see Mikey in an NBA uniform. As we see, he’s already making huge waves in the basketball world, which his over 5 million followers on Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter can attest to.
