Gunna, also known as Sergio Kitchens, recently released his highly anticipated fourth studio album titled ‘A Gift & A Curse’ on June 16. This album arrives on the heels of Gunna’s involvement in a Georgia racketeering case connected to Young Thug’s YSL label, which led to some criticism within the hip-hop community accusing him of “snitching” on his co-defendants.
Amidst concerns about these allegations impacting the album’s sales, ‘A Gift & A Curse’ debuted at an impressive No. 3 on the latest Billboard 200 chart, demonstrating Gunna’s resilience and continued popularity. The album garnered an opening week total of 85,000 units.
Although this figure represents a decline compared to Gunna’s previous projects, such as 2020’s ‘Wunna’ (111,000 first-week units) and 2022’s ‘DS4Ever’ (150,000 first-week units), the Atlanta-born rapper expressed his gratitude and celebrated the initial commercial success of ‘A Gift & A Curse.’ In an Instagram Stories post, Gunna took a moment to thank his loyal fanbase for their support and love.
Gunna’s message read, “I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to my incredible fans. I love each and every one of you.” The talented artist signed to YSL Records/300 Entertainment, also highlighted some noteworthy achievements associated with ‘A Gift & A Curse.’ Notably, the album secured the top position on the Billboard Top Rap Albums chart, showcasing Gunna’s prowess within the rap genre.
Additionally, Gunna emphasized that ‘A Gift & A Curse’ reportedly amassed the highest number of first-week units for an album without any featured artists since 2021.
