In a candid conversation with The Morning Hustle, Gucci Mane opens up about his famous ice cream face tattoo and expresses his regret over the decision. The rapper admits that he wasn’t in a good place in his life when he got the iconic ink on his right cheek back in 2011. While he acknowledges that he didn’t initiate the trend of rappers getting face tattoos, he still grapples with mixed feelings about his own prominent ink.
Gucci Mane modestly refrains from taking credit for pioneering the face tattoo trend, yet he acknowledges his influence on making it seem appealing to others. He reflects on the choices he made during that period in his life, saying, “I wouldn’t take credit for starting the trend, but I think I definitely made people think it was something cool to do. I was going through something when I did it. If I could do it over again, I probably wouldn’t have done it.”
Intriguingly, Gucci reveals that there’s more to the story than meets the eye. He emphasizes, “People don’t know the backstory to that. I wasn’t in a healthy place at the time. That was just a sporadic thing I did.” This revelation sheds light on the deeper emotional and personal turmoil that was occurring in his life at that time, making his regret more understandable.
