Gucci Mane has stepped into the ring of 2024 rap battles, and his target is none other than Diddy!
In his latest track, “TakeDat,” Mr. Zone 6 delivers a relentless blow aimed squarely at the Bad Boy mogul. Appropriating Diddy’s own catchphrase, Gucci launches into a barrage of lyrical attacks that leave no doubt about his intentions.
The song kicks off with Gucci cheekily proclaiming, “I’m just messing around, but No Diddy,” a line that serves as the hook throughout the track. He doesn’t stop there, weaving in references to Diddy’s past relationships with lines like, “I got a young Miami lady from the city / I’m spending money like a big spender (No Diddy).”
But Gucci doesn’t reserve his venom solely for Diddy. He takes aim at various other figures in the rap world, from sly nods to controversies involving underage girls to references to incidents involving Kid Cudi’s car and even shots fired at 50 Cent, Gillie, and Wallo.
Surprisingly, despite being on the receiving end of Gucci’s lyrical onslaught, 50 Cent showed support for the track, promoting it on his Instagram. Additionally, Gucci doesn’t hold back on poking fun at Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Brunch, questioning why he’s never been seen there with lines like, “Why you ain’t ever seen Wop at The Brunch? / ‘Cause they might spike the punch, man, that shit too risky.”
Adding another layer of intrigue to the mix, Gucci’s wife Keyshia Ka’Oir makes a cameo appearance in the music video, reenacting a scene from the iconic 1994 Notorious B.I.G. video “Big Poppa” that features Diddy and Misa Hylton in a bathtub.
Gucci Mane’s “TakeDat, TakeDat” is more than just a diss track; it’s a bold statement that he’s not afraid to take on rap’s biggest names and shake up the game. With its sharp lyrics and memorable hooks, it’s sure to make waves.
