G Herbo recently shared his thoughts on the heated debate surrounding Lil Wayne’s exclusion from the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans. Instead of the hometown hero, Kendrick Lamar was chosen to headline the highly anticipated event, sparking criticism and claims that Weezy was overlooked.
During an interview with Big Boy, the Chicago rapper voiced his opinion, stating that Lil Wayne would have been the better pick for the show. G Herbo explained his reasoning, emphasizing the impact Wayne would have had on both the event and the culture of New Orleans.
“I’m a huge Kendrick fan, I love Kendrick,” Herbo began. “But I feel like Wayne headlining would have done more for New Orleans. It would have been bigger for the culture, more monumental.”
He went on to elaborate on the significance it would have brought to the Crescent City. “The city needed it. Seeing Wayne up there would’ve brought people together. It would’ve drawn a bigger crowd, and overall, it would have been a better look for both Hip Hop and New Orleans.”
G Herbo, who’s from Chicago, also made it clear that his admiration for Lil Wayne runs deep, calling him his “favorite rapper of all time.”
With Kendrick Lamar set to perform at Super Bowl LIX on February 9, 2025, many fans and artists alike continue to debate who truly deserved the coveted halftime spot. But for G Herbo, it’s clear that Lil Wayne headlining would have been a monumental moment for New Orleans and Hip Hop culture.
