Chicago rapper G Herbo took a deeply personal turn during his appearance on Kai Cenat’s Mafiathon 2 livestream on Saturday (November 16). Amid the high-energy environment, Herbo revealed the heartbreaking news of his father’s recent passing while delivering an inspiring motivational speech.
As part of Cenat’s month-long streaming event, guests are often asked to share motivational messages, accompanied by live musical support. Herbo, joined by his young son, started his speech with a familiar phrase: “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” However, he quickly shifted gears to reflect on his own experiences.
“There’s always light at the end of the tunnel,” Herbo began. “I’ve faced a lot of challenges, but I always find a way to overcome. Adversity, trials, tribulations—they all lead to triumph. You’ve just got to push yourself to be better than you were yesterday.”
Herbo then shared the devastating news: “I just lost my pops two, two-and-a-half weeks ago. But I still find a reason to get up, to smile, to work, to provide for my family, and to be there for my kids.”
The emotional moment became even more poignant when Herbo’s son started crying at the mention of his grandfather.
“My son’s crying because I’m talking about his grandfather,” Herbo explained tenderly. “But it’s okay, man. Family comes first.” Turning to his child, he added, “You miss your pop-pop? It’s okay. He’s living through you, son.”
