A chilling new mugshot of Florida State University shooter Phoenix Ikner has surfaced, revealing a severely disfigured face just weeks after a deadly on-campus shooting that left two dead and six others injured.
20-year-old Ikner, who allegedly unleashed gunfire on FSU’s campus on April 17, has been officially released from a Tallahassee hospital after undergoing multiple surgeries. Authorities say he was struck in the jaw by campus police during the takedown, resulting in extensive facial injuries.
Now booked and processed, Ikner has been transferred to the Wakulla County Detention Facility, where he awaits his first court appearance. He is facing two counts of first-degree murder and seven counts of attempted murder.
“This is a deeply serious case, and the Tallahassee Police Department remains committed to justice, full transparency, and ensuring community safety,” said Police Chief Lawrence Revell. He praised the efforts of law enforcement and medical teams involved in the case.
Adding to the shock, officials confirmed that the firearm used in the rampage belonged to Ikner’s mother, Jessica Ikner, a veteran law enforcement officer with over 18 years of service. Investigators revealed that Phoenix is the stepson of a Leon County Sheriff’s deputy, which prompted the protocol-driven transfer to a different detention facility.
As the community grapples with the tragedy, this development raises new questions about gun access, family dynamics within law enforcement, and school safety.
