Ford is stepping into a new digital era… and they’re doing it with Amazon. The automaker just announced a major partnership that will allow Ford’s franchised dealers to sell certified pre-owned vehicles directly through Amazon’s massive online marketplace.
Under this new program, shoppers will be able to browse Ford’s certified used cars, secure financing, complete most of the paperwork, and schedule a pickup… all online.
Ford says the final signature may still require an in-person visit, but the overall buying process just got a whole lot more seamless.
This move expands Amazon’s growing footprint in the auto space. Two years ago, Hyundai became the first automaker to sell new vehicles on Amazon.
Now Ford is entering the platform… but with certified pre-owned models, which are thoroughly inspected, refurbished, and backed by manufacturer warranties.
Amazon is no stranger to used car sales, either. Earlier this year, it teamed up with Hertz to offer their retired rental fleet to online shoppers.
Ford says interest is climbing fast: over 160 of its nearly 2,900 U.S. dealerships have already signed up to participate… with a dozen fully live on Amazon and another wave launching in the coming days.
