Two Florida school workers are facing charges after disturbing bus surveillance video allegedly showed a minimally verbal 10-year-old student with autism and ADHD being abused. Authorities say the investigation uncovered weeks of incidents.
Florida authorities have arrested two school employees following the release of surveillance footage that allegedly shows a 10-year-old child with autism and ADHD being physically mistreated on a school bus.
Deputies say the investigation began on November 14, 2025, after a witness reported seeing a bus aide strike a child aboard a bus serving Caminiti Exceptional School. According to officials, aide Juanita Wright was seen repeatedly hitting the student, who is described as minimally verbal.
Investigators allege that bus driver Tonya Rice-Constant was present during the incidents and failed to intervene, reportedly laughing during at least one episode.
Additional video reviewed by detectives reportedly revealed 13 separate dates between October 2 and November 14, 2025, in which similar abuse is believed to have occurred.
Both employees were taken into custody on January 26. Wright now faces 14 counts of child abuse, while Rice-Constant has been charged with failure to report suspected child abuse.
Authorities say the case remains under review as they examine all available footage and documentation.
