A late-night Florida mishap turned into a drug bust after a man’s drone… loaded with methamphetamine and fentanyl… crash-landed in a homeowner’s backyard.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the bizarre incident happened around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 19, when startled residents heard a loud crash outside their home. Upon investigating, they discovered a drone tangled in their yard… with plastic bags of illegal drugs strapped to it.
Doorbell camera footage captured the moment Jason Brooks, 49, nervously knocked on the front door, apparently trying to retrieve his “lost” drone. Police say the residents quickly contacted authorities instead.
Deputies found Brooks lingering in the driveway, where he allegedly admitted he was searching for his drone. Officers arrested him on the spot. He now faces multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell or deliver.
The Sheriff’s Office says this unusual case highlights the creative… but reckless… methods some criminals are using to move drugs, even if it means risking exposure in the most unexpected ways.
