Authorities in Florida have arrested 23-year-old Kevin Lamont Reed Jr. in connection with the fatal shooting of Steven Magee, a 48-year-old father of five.
According to investigators, the shooting happened outside Wally’s Poolhall, where Reed and Magee reportedly got into an argument. Police say the confrontation escalated before gunfire erupted.
Witness accounts and preliminary findings indicate that Magee appeared to be stepping backward with his hands raised, seemingly attempting to de-escalate the conflict, when Reed allegedly opened fire. Magee was struck several times during the incident.
Emergency responders transported Magee to a nearby hospital, but he later died from his injuries.
Police say Reed left the scene after the shooting but was later taken into custody. He has been charged with second-degree murder as the investigation continues.
