Recent legal documents acquired by TMZ reveal that Fetty is seeking a relatively shorter sentence after admitting guilt to the conspiracy of distributing a minimum of 500 grams of cocaine, which traces back to his arrest in October 2021.
In a bid to sway the judge, Fetty’s legal team has emphasized his acceptance of full responsibility for his crimes while asserting that these actions should not solely define his character. They have also provided a collection of heartfelt letters from loved ones, highlighting Fetty’s intentions of financially supporting his family through drug sales.
However, the prosecution paints a different picture. According to their documents, the federal authorities are urging the judge to impose a prison term ranging between 87 and 108 months. They allege that Fetty played a significant role in a vast drug trafficking organization responsible for saturating Long Island with cocaine.
The office of U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, Breon Peace, argues against leniency, claiming that Fetty has exploited his fame, influential platform, and widespread following to romanticize the drug trade.
TMZ initially broke the story surrounding Fetty Wap’s arrest in 2021 on his way to Rolling Loud New York. Federal agents apprehended him and multiple associates, accusing them of utilizing USPS trucks for drug smuggling. The investigation reportedly unveiled a staggering 16 kilograms of cocaine.
Having entered a guilty plea in August, Fetty’s sentencing is scheduled for May 24. The outcome of this hearing holds considerable interest, as it will determine the extent of his punishment.
