The father of one of the two young girls whose bodies were discovered inside a partially buried suitcase is speaking publicly for the first time, expressing heartbreak and frustration over the tragedy.
In an emotional interview, the grieving father said he feels powerless after learning about the death of his daughter.
“I just feel useless. I couldn’t save my daughter,” he said while describing the pain of the loss.
Authorities say Aliyah Henderson, 28, has been arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated murder in connection with the case.
The victims have been identified as Mila Chatman, 8, and Amor Wilson, 10, who were half-sisters.
According to the father, he believes the girls’ mother had prevented him from seeing his daughter for several years before the tragedy occurred.
Investigators say the children were discovered in a suitcase that had been partially buried, sparking a homicide investigation that shocked the community.
Officials confirmed that Henderson is currently being held on a $2 million bond.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office said the official cause and manner of death for both girls remain pending as investigators continue their examination.
The heartbreaking case has drawn widespread attention as authorities work to determine exactly what led to the deaths of the two young sisters.
