A tense scene unfolded inside the Mecklenburg County Courthouse in North Carolina when a grieving father physically confronted the man accused of murdering his 16-year-old son.
According to authorities, 16-year-old Jamariyae Dixon was shot and killed last spring. Police have charged Marion McKnight with first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder in connection to the shooting.
During a court appearance, the victim’s father allegedly attacked McKnight inside the courtroom. Witnesses reportedly said the father acted out of overwhelming grief, with one person stating, “He did what he had to do as a father… any father would have done the same.”
McKnight, who had previously been released on a $100,000 bond… a decision the family strongly opposed… was later taken to a hospital following the altercation. Authorities confirmed another individual now faces a misdemeanor assault charge related to the incident.
The case continues to draw attention as the community demands justice for Dixon.
