Rapper Fat Joe, famous for hits like “Lean Back,” has been open about his weight loss journey. At his heaviest, he tipped the scales at 470 lbs., but now, at 54, he’s found a balance that works for him, combining smart dietary choices with a little help from a trending medication.
Speaking to Us Weekly, Fat Joe shared the key to his success: cutting down on carbs. “We just try to eat everything with the least carbs possible… so we try to stay away from the bread, the pasta, the rice. That’s the smartest way to eat,” he explained.
In addition to a low-carb diet, Fat Joe credits the diabetes medication Ozempic with helping him manage his cravings. The rapper jokingly added, “Ozempic says you may only have two pieces of your favorite stuff.”
Ozempic, known for its role in treating type 2 diabetes, has also gained popularity as a weight loss tool. The medication, along with Wegovy, contains semaglutide, which affects the brain’s satiety signals, making it easier to control hunger.
While Fat Joe still indulges in carbs occasionally, he’s more mindful of portion control. “This morning, I had toast for breakfast,” he said. “I cut the corner off, ate it, and kept it moving. Normally, I would’ve eaten the whole thing, but now we’re smarter about it.”
Fat Joe’s commitment to staying healthy has inspired many, and his story highlights the importance of balance—making mindful choices while still enjoying the foods you love in moderation.
