Lady Gaga made a surprise performance at the 2023 Academy Awards on Sunday, but instead of receiving accolades, fans took to Twitter to express concern about her chapped lips.
Despite being nominated for Best Original Song for her 2022 single “Hold My Hand” from the “Top Gun: Maverick” soundtrack, viewers were distracted by her dry, cracked lips while she performed at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theater in a casual T-shirt and bare face, foregoing her glamorous gown.
Earlier, on the red carpet, she had worn a bold, red lip, which could have left residue on her lips that some mistook for blood, but the state of her lips remained a topic of discussion.
Some fans loved it, and some just found it to be unacceptable. But if you know Lady Gaga, you know she marches to her own beat, and with everyone dressing in her custom style, she probably decided to go natural to show the world that it is okay to be your natural self.
