Bristol Township Police released new details Wednesday following a deadly explosion at the Bristol Health and Rehab Center on Tower Road.
Investigators confirmed that a gas leak sparked two separate explosions, followed by a fire that tore through part of the facility. Officials also revealed there was a strong odor of gas reported at the scene prior to the blasts.
Authorities say two people were killed in the incident… one employee and one resident of the Bucks County, Pennsylvania, nursing home.
As of Wednesday morning, 19 individuals remain hospitalized, including one person listed in critical condition, according to the police chief.
Emergency crews continue working alongside state and federal investigators to determine how the leak occurred and whether safety protocols were followed.
The incident has prompted renewed scrutiny over facility safety measures in long-term care centers across the region.
