Former Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe found himself in handcuffs after delivering a passionate anti-MAGA speech at a Huntington Beach city council meeting, leading to his dramatic removal by police.
Kluwe, known for his outspoken political views, took the podium to slam Donald Trump supporters, accusing the MAGA movement of being “profoundly corrupt” and “explicitly a Nazi movement.” His speech quickly turned confrontational as he declared, “You may have replaced a swastika with a red hat, but that is what it is.”
Tensions escalated when Kluwe announced his intent to engage in “peaceful civil obedience” and moved toward the council members. Law enforcement swiftly intervened, forcibly detaining the 43-year-old former athlete.
Video footage captured officers handcuffing him and escorting him out of City Hall as onlookers reacted to the intense moment.
The Huntington Beach Police Department charged Kluwe with disturbing an assembly, but he was released after four hours in custody. His arrest has sparked debates on free speech, political activism, and law enforcement’s role in public discourse.
